Notes from the Director
Welcome to Joyful Noise March Newsletter 2! Spring is creeping up so quickly and we have a lot of fun events planned! Please see the important dates below. I would like to thank Katelyn Ihne for coming in to teach the children about feelings this month. I would also like to thank the parent group for organizing the spirit wear that should be coming home in your child’s bag next week.
My due date is approaching quickly (March 31st) and I want to thank you all for such a wonderful school year. My family and I are very excited to be a family of 5, however I am so sad to be absent for the upcoming events. I will be working throughout my leave from home but please reach out to Susan (email@example.com) about any QuickBooks invoicing, payments, and registration.
I would like to announce the two church members and retired teachers, Kathy McNull & Marcie Barwick, who will be filling in while I am out on family leave.
STEAM: The month of March for Stem class included finishing up polar animals, a unit on birds, St Patrick’s Day, and learning about pets and their care. The student’s enjoyed seeing my bird’s nest, using binoculars, listening to my bird caller, and listening to the story called Peck Peck Peck. We also learned about St. Patrick’s Day with a scavenger hunt and using pennies for our pot of gold sink or float science experiment. We also played shamrock tic tac toe. Another fun month of Stem.
Pre-K COMPUTER/ENRICHMENT: Please see Mrs. Carvalho’s newsletter emailed at the end of the month for PreK. If you did not receive it, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
BIBLE STORY: March brings us more into Jesus’s adult life. The kids will hear the story and song about Zaccheaus and they will get to pull him up into his Sycamore tree using twine and a cut out Zaccheaus. We will then move onto Palm Sunday. We will hear the story and re-enact it with felt palm leaves and coats along with wooden figures. The last week of March will have us all gathering in two large groups in the Sanctuary. We will sing songs and hear the Easter story.
Meet Kathy and Marcie
Kathy McNull: I have happily been a member of the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains church for nearly 38 years. I raised my family in the church and my 3 children are Joyful Noise alum! I have an undergraduate degree in history and education and a master’s degree in educational counseling. I have worked as an academic advisor, a stay-at-home mom and I recently retired after teaching high school history for 20 years. Here at church, I have volunteered and taught every grade of Sunday school from K through high school. Most recently I have become reacquainted with the pre-school set as I am blessed with 4 grandchildren under the age of 4!
Marcie Barwick: recently retired as a school teacher in the public schools. She has taught Spanish to students in grades K-12. Marcie and her husband are long time members of the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains and are the proud parents of triplets who were students of Joyful Noise. Marcie feels blessed to be in such a caring community and looks forward to helping at JNNS. Marcie’s hobbies include cooking, sewing, swimming, playing pickleball and traveling.
